Talk Streaming
When to use it
Use it when you are are stuck and are stuck in a rut of constrained thinking.
Use when you need to find more ideas.
How to use it
Find a friend
Find someone who is patient and can listen for a long period without interruption.
If you cannot find someone, talk to the dog or get a tape-recorder.
Talk and talk and talk
Just talk to the person. About anything or anyone. The goal is just to talk, non-stop. If you run out of things to say, just keep going. Talk rubbish if you have to. Talk and talk and talk.
And eventually, you will find yourself unblocked and ideas wills start to appear again.
Example
I am writing a novel and am stuck with a particular part of the plot. I start off talking to the dog about it. The dog look at me, slightly askance. I keep on talking and talking. Initially about the story. Then about my dreams for it. Eventually I am talking about my childhood when an idea occurs to me. I thank the dog and get back to writing.
How it works
This approach works by emptying the conscious mind of what is concerning it and anything else that may be lurking in the shadows. Just getting things out gives space for more ideas to be drawn up from the subconscious.
